Iron Cyanide Removal from Wastewater via Precipitation

Capabilities

  • Can reduce total cyanide levels to approximately less than 1 mg/l
  • Converts iron cyanide to land fillable sludge

Description of process

  • Wastewater from coke gas contains cyanide after ammonia stripping
  • Reducing agent must be added to wastewater stream if complexed iron is ferric
  • Ferrous/ferric chloride is added to water to form a ferri-ferrocyanide insoluble particulate
  • Additional coagulating metals are added to improve settling of particulate
  • Sedimentation followed by sand filtration results in cyanide reduced wastewater
  • Anion ion exchange resin removal of cyanide available for "clean streams"
